Oh yea this page rocks!

Art as a form of combat will play a much bigger role in later parts of Sky Limit, so I'm glad to see at least one page of that here at the beginning.  I remember having a lot of fun drawing this page and getting a bit bogged down with how I drew the effects of characters spray painting. I'm presently drawing a bit where characters once again are fighting something with spray cans, so it's good for me to reflect on what I've already drawn for the sake of making the future. Hm Hm. Good stuff.

It's super satisfying to be at a point with this project where enough art has been uploaded that I can use this website for reference. Just you wait until I finish the cast page and have that up and ready to go.

One thing that strikes me the most about this page is how panel 2 is just a background! A unique choice in this book. It does a decent job of giving a sense of the location and the speed they're flying through.  I unfortunately have the typical webcomic artist's weakness of not being the biggest fan of drawing backgrounds, but I do what I can to make things make sense. 

 

Lately, I've felt more artistically inspired by the emotion, power, and scale that a background can give a work of art.  Maybe Sky Limit will be the thing that gets me love drawing backgrounds. Time will tell.
